It's been a very long while since someone posted! So here we go.

Hey there my dearest PSLs!! Tomorrow is the last rehearsal for Leaders’ Invest before the actual day on Friday. As most of you know, the PSL oath was not very well received by the teachers and we were told to change it. So we have come up with this poem-like thing (which I have yet to name).

I need you all to memorise it as much as you can, copy it down and print it out and sleep over it tonight. (: and if any of you can think of any name to call this (excluding Oath and Creed and please no Poem either) please sms me okay!

Here’s the poem-like thing:

Gosh, it's been a while! :D School's gonna start on Monday, are y'all excited? I'm very excited 'cause I can see all of you! {One family clap - Awww}

Don't you think school's really fun? I love being in the company of all my friends.

Sec 2s: Enjoy this year with your classmates before y'all are separated into different classes!

Sec 3s: STEPPING-UP YEAR. Don't be afraid to take on this challenge to lead your fellow peers and juniors in wherever you are. It was a rollercoaster ride for me last year, but I really really enjoyed last year a lot. You'll meet with obstacles here and there, {I know this is gna sound cliche but I really mean it} but don't fall down so easily. There's this saying "The higher you climb, the harder you fall." But instead of taking this negatively, why not take it positively? "The higher you climb, the better the view." :D So enjoy your honeymoon upper sec year before you come to Sec 4!

Sadly, the only PSL-related event during the holidays was Mrs Koh's farewell! and im really wishing I had pictures to post here ):

But it was really awesome that yall we so enthu! :D When you all were smashing cake, i was seriously scared; 50% cos yall were running around so enthu and 50% cos i was afraid of getting smashed cos I was the next person there. haha
And the mass singalong was brilliant to (: - A board that sings together, stays together.

Hee.

At least we still have this blog (: This blog is one of the few ways that we can talk to each other! so do tag often yea? (:

Anyway, school starts in 3 days time! Anyone excited? Hopefully you've all finished your assignments/projects/homework/revision/catch-up on studies already (or soon) (: Term3's sure gonna be a rollercoaster of a time :O

On to a change in mood:

Today, 25th June 2010, marks one year since the death of Michael Jackson. King of Pop.

I know this seems really random and all, but I really can't believe it's been one year since his death. It only seemed like a month ago when he passed away; probably because until today, everyone is still talking about his death, that it seems like it was something that happened just recently.

This really shows how times flies really fast, and we've only got 4 more months till the end of this school year. Soon, we'd be having our next sec4 farewell and the sec3s will be sec4s, and the sec2s will be sec3s/ election period, and we'll have our new sec1 PSLs...

Time flies really fast, and we don't realise it till it's gone, and once we have, all we are left to do is try our best to spend our last remaining moments as best as we can. Maybe by then, it'd be too late, and all we could do is wish that we had more time.

So the best we can do is make the right decisions, spend our time wisely but also enjoy ourselves at the same time (: 'Cos we don't stay in PSB forever.

Tho, once a PSL, always a PSL (: (look at JA for an example :) )

Hellooo PSLs (:

It's me, it's me, it's me again! Hahah anyway, I'm here because (1) I'm bored and (2) I see the desperate need to revive this blog again. How have you guys been? Life in JC is so mundane largely because of the academic aspect. Changes seem to be happening at too fast a pace as well. Changes like the education system, friendships, etc make us all pretty sad and emotional at times. This is when I'll start reminiscing about the good old days. ): In comparison, life in Cedar was honestly like a fairytale - Cedarians are truly one of a kind y'know.

Do you realise how little it takes to approach a Cedarian? If you don't, start observing.

I'm sure there are times when we cannot help complaining about how secondary school life sucks because of our unsatisfactory academic results, heavy leadership commitments, friendship problems, and so on. But trust me, you'll miss those days like hell when you step into JC. Of course, JC life isn't that scary. Neither is it that boring. In fact, my school is very interesting! Hahah maybe it's just the unique Cedar culture.

On a separate note, I hope you guys have spent your June holidays well. Must catch up on your studies alright. Sec4s, please don't stress yourself out over O'levels. Just make sure you study consistently. (:

Ok, I want to get back to Econsss. yay I love Econsss. It's such an awesome and interesting subject. (: I shall end off this post with a picture!

Hello PSLs!

I know you guys miss my thought-provoking posts, so here's one to make your day and hopefully set you thinking about certain issues! (:

To everyone:
I hope you guys are coping well with secondary school life so far! I'm guessing that some of you are feeling rather drained out because of your studies and CCA commitments lately, especially the sec 4s who are struggling with Prelims. And for the minority (I hope), y'all may be experiencing some serious relationship problems (friend-friend, guy-girl, ~~girl-girl~~). But learn to cope with everything k. Optimism is the key. Certain goals may seem far and unreachable right now; certain problems may seem hard to surmount at this point in time. Nonetheless, hang in there. I'm sure things will get better. (: Trust me, I've gone through this phase.

To Ex Co '09-'10:
I know it has been a long and tough journey for you guys, especially this year. Although there were many obstacles along the way, I'm still glad that I've chosen the 6 of you as the Ex Co in my heart. If y'all are disappointed in yourself, don't feel that way because it's truly the process that matters. I'm sure y'all have picked up a lot of lessons along the way. E.g. how to work as a team. Easy it may sound to non-leaders, but you guys should know how hard it is by now. So give yourself a pat on the shoulder for all that you've done for the Board. Take the important lessons away and make sure y'all don't repeat the same mistakes when y'all step into the working world. (:

To sec 4s:
I suppose you guys are stepping down by the end of this term. Just want to thank you all for all your contributions to the Board for the past few years. I really appreciate it. (: Although I'm not close to every single one of you, I hope y'all are coping well so far. It's going to be a tough ride this year. But rmb that it's merely the toughest period for y'all in your 4 years spent in Cedar, and definitely not the toughest period for y'all in your life. So do take things easy and don't give yourself too much stress. (:

To sec 3s:
I know this is one of the toughest period for you guys since most of you are stepping up as the new leaders of your CCAs. It's often hard at the beginning, but learn to adapt quickly k. Gear yourself up for the challenges ahead. It's all about time management and positive thinking. Don't magnify problems and make your life miserable. Tell yourself that you can do it. I know that sounds cliche, but more than often, it works!!! If you keep telling yourself that you cannot cope with all your commitments, trust me, you'll really end up accomplishing nothing at all. Don't waste your time worrying. Believe in yourself. (:

To sec 2s:
Ok this is tough because I don't know you guys well enough. Just want to say a big thank-you to those who still bother saying hi to me whenever I go back to Cedar. It truly warms my heart! (: Haha and terribly sorry if I don't recognize y'all, or don't rmb your names. :/ Anyway I hope y'all are learning to love the Board as much as I do! Stay committed to it and don't become "stagnant". Jiayou for everything else! (:

Alright guys, this post is not exactly inspirational or thought-provoking because I'm in a rush. Nonetheless, I hope you guys get what I'm trying to say. Just the gist of it will do. (:

Lastly, please treasure whatever you have in secondary school. Both good and bad aspects of it. Honestly, best times of your life are spent in this phase. yup, so learn to appreciate what you have. (:

Hope you guys have been enjoying school so far. Though it's not as fun (since the awesome sec 4s are not around), do treasure every single moment spent in Cedar. I'm missing life in Cedar so so much. ):

You guys better study hard and don't become emo elmos. Stay cheerful and awesome. Jiayou for the upcoming tests/exams. Don't let me catch you sleeping in class.

Good luck for PSGM as well. You should know how important this event means to us. So stay committed and be serious abt it. Be a good role model to the cute little sec 1s. OI/Cs, don't freak out because it'll not make things any better. Hope you guys will have lots of obstacles along the way, because that's how you learn and grow. Don't be afraid to fail. If you haven't fail, you haven't really learn.

As for the junior PSLs, learn to step out of your comfort zone and start making friends with your seniors.

I hope you know why this post sounds so boring.

A BIG THANK YOU TO MRS KOH, CURRENT EXCO AND ALL OTHER PSLS FOR PLANNING TODAY'S FAREWELL! (:

The Sec 4s truly appreciate all that you guys have planned for us today. (: Though certain activities were kind of "scary" (e.g. RUNWAY, *coughs*), I'm sure all of us enjoyed ourselves in that 3 hrs or so. Really thanks so much for putting in the effort and time to plan. (:

The performance put up for the Sec 4s was cute, so thanks Sec 1s.
Those letters for the Sec 4s were really sweet, so thanks Sec 2s.
Those mini superhero banners for the Sec 4s were really beautiful (haha, sounds weird), so thanks Sec 3s.
The cake was nice but rather big, so thanks Mrs Koh.

Just wanna add on, thank you PSLs for playing such an important role in my life. Being the chair has srsly been one of the best experiences I've ever gained in Cedar. I've never regretted my decision to accept this huge responsibility. Of course, I wouldn't have come out of all these challenges (unscathed) without the necessary support from you guys. Thanks for being my pillar of strength, esp the Exco who has gone through everything with me. (:

Apart from that, I just want to sincerely welcome the new PSLs into our big family! (: Hopefully, they're aware of the existence of this blog and start tagging soon! (: I've already updated the profile of the new PSLs under the column "The Legend". Also, do leave your blog link so that we can link you guys. (:

hey hey hey there my dearest peer support leaders! i have to admit, haha this is my first post. so haha, i shall start by telling you more about myself.

p.s: you can skip this whole first para if you dun wanna know about me :x
haha, i am Priya(: i am in 3S and in Cedar Cross Country. i used to be in TLDDS (dance) and yeah. i take indian classical class dances. i started in pri2 and am still dancing(: i took part in NDP@ marina bay last year too! damn fun! haha. i can swim (unlike florence ;)) and to a certain extent, i think i can bake a cookie better than aunty Jeslyn :x i love history teehee. i love the colour purple! i dun like to eat so my exco keeps on urging me to eat. haha. i cant draw (but maybe Jaime can draw sth for me (: ) and i can't sing like Pammy and Sharon! though i thiink it would be so cool to be able to sing like 'em! i dunno what else to say lahh. haha.

ok, now that i m done crapping abt myself i shall post about this whole week of PSL events! starting with open house dry run on Monday. i was super duper worried:x i came to school like at 700 to go one round ard the sch first before exco had meeting with Mrs Koh. but the school was like locked. haha, so funny. then i stepped into the school for the first then and had a quick quick walk about. i m so sorry i couldnt stay for the whole dry run session cause i had to go for TLC camp. but i think it was quite ok. i hope..

then came the next day. which was scholars' orientation and PSL induction. i believe that this was the best day of the week so far! we all had so much of funfunfun! haha. it was kinda like a whole day of games and everyone had a lot of fun playing the games. so YAY! hope the PSLs felt a little bit inducted atleast!

camp camp camp. judging from all your feedback. camp was inbetween a flop and a success. haha. you'll enjoyed it and some did not really enjoy it all the time. but overall for a first camp i think it was quite successful. but basically i want to say thank you thank you to all of you for coming down and making it even possible in the first place! the exco is very grateful to those who attended the camp! we will look into what all of you said and include it in the AAR (after action review) so that the next camp would be much much more fun and flawless!! yay

Dearest PSLs,

After so many weeks have passed, I’ve finally taken out some time to give this blog a brand new look (hope you guys like it, by the way), and also type out my ‘farewell’ speech here.

Well, the Secondary 4s’ journey has come to an end on 27 May 2009, Wednesday, as I made the official announcement to the school. Before I start typing essays about my thoughts and feelings towards these 3 wonderful years of experience gained in Cedar PSB, I would like to sincerely congratulate the new Executive Committee of 2009-2010.

Every single one of you is of such high calibre, and that’s exactly what makes y’all the future leaders of the Board, standing at the front line. You guys have been chosen to take the lead, and I’ve absolute faith that y’all will give the Board the best you have. Just like what Mr. Yau said to us the other time, it is when the spirit of servant leadership takes hold in a team that trust blossoms. And trust, the glue of life, flourishes only through trustworthiness. The key is actually to acknowledge everyone in the team, with various qualities and personalities. Good management involves utilizing the strengths of every member, and the weaknesses are made irrelevant by the strengths of others. This has to come naturally through us getting to know and understand and trust each other.

During my time, I’ve not been able to fulfill such a ‘noble’ task before I step down.

So now, it’s YOUR time.

As a PSL, I must say that I’ve truly gained a lot from attending all the seminars, sharings, conventions, and on top of it all, from leading this wonderful Board. The journey hasn’t been smooth-sailing, but the lessons which I’ve picked up along the way definitely made all the efforts worthwhile.

Being a PSL does not simply means attending events, helping out in events, and organizing events. We can actually achieve far more than that as a Board if we’re willing to share a common vision. This Board can be a big family where we seek refuge from, if we choose to believe in it.

Everyone must be willing to make the first step.

I don’t know how else to emphasize on the importance of this point.
So I hope you get what I’m driving at. (:

I understand that some of you may have felt neglected along the way. You don’t feel attached/committed/passionate towards the Board because you feel that you’re doing nothing much in particular, except to pop in and help out in running of events once in a while. But while having that mindset in your head, why not spare some moments to put yourself in the shoes of the leaders? To yourself, you may think that you’re not exactly doing much in the Board, you don’t feel committed.

But in actual fact, your participation would have brought about great changes and impacts!

And what’s the reason behind this mindset? Personally, I feel that it’s because we do not have faith and hence the lack of the drive to bring up this Board. Of course, there are many reasons. Perhaps it’s because we need to be more bonded?

Well, whatever the reason may be, I assure you that the new ExCo will do something to change this. But ultimately, it still requires two hands to clap.

I know it’s hard to, but let’s try it yeah? Try to love this Board, as much as we love our CCAs and studies (?!).

It has been an SYF year, so I trust that y’all can be more committed to PSB activities in the near future. Yes? YES!! (: Give the Board a chance, Give yourself a chance. To shine. You’ll definitely gain more than what you’ve imagined.

Remember to do whatever you can to help this Board. Simple actions like tagging on this blog, or even blogging (if you happen to rmb the user and pass, =.=), will make a difference. Influence each other in a positive way yeah? Do stupid things together. I mean, who even cares? As long as we stay close and bonded. (:

Of course, the rest of the Sec. 3s should not feel disheartened just because you’re not part of the final 6. All of you have your own unique strengths, and it’s really up to you whether or not you want to unleash it and bring the Board up. Just look at Mardhiyyah and Afiqah. Even though they are not in the ExCo, they’ve always been the ones representing the Board at cheering during events such as National Track. Their enthusiasm did not stop on the day when my ExCo was announced.

Hence, I strongly urge the remaining Sec. 3s to keep that faith in the Board high, for the juniors will be looking up to you, for the Board’s image depends on you, for faith will move mountains. Never ever think that you’re useless or incapable in time to come, simply because you are nothing but an indispensable asset to the Board. “Execution is the missing link between aspirations and results”, bear that in mind. Without your active participation and commitment, no matter how hard the ExCo tries to bring the Board to a higher level, everything will still remain stagnant and nothing will change.

And there are also some words which I would like to say to the Sec. 2s. To begin with, your guys have really been a wonderful batch to be with. Fun-loving, highly enthusiastic, and not forgetting to mention, lame and silly. I never fail to get amused by your contagious lameness whenever I visit the PSL blog. Although you guys haven’t really been blogging, I’m truly comforted by your frequent tags. And it’s not just a few of you, but most. (Right?) It really shows how much y’all care for the Board, and I really appreciate it. (: Continue to keep your level of enthusiasm high in the Board, and never allow the faith you’ve placed in the Board to waver a few months down the road because of your other commitments in/outside school. Stay bonded within your own level and slowly build up your sense of commitment to the Board. I’m sure as the days pass by, you’ll enjoy the fruits of your labour. Work for it.

To all, I hope you guys can make the effort to get committed to the goals of the Board. Work hand in hand with the new ExCo. Together, all of you will determine the destination of the Board, and hence, have ownership in the path that leads to the destination. You have to believe in this.

Only then, we can move on.

HEY DUDES!

please attend TEAM PSL in Wk 4, Tuesday (14 Apr)! We're going to play Captain's Ball! And that's a very fun game! Haha! Plus, the most important thing is, we are gonna have INTERNAL VOTING. This is extremely important for the sec 3s who will be stepping up at around end of term II. Hence, I urge all PSLs to attend this TEAM PSL session IF YOU'RE GIVEN A CHOICE.

It's really sad seeing the poor attendance. I know y'all are busyyy people. But think again. Who's less busy than you? The sec 4s who have remedials almost everyday, who have the big Os to worry about? Sighs. ): y'all asked for more bonding sessions, but when we organize it, less than a handful attend. I know perhaps the sessions are boring to some of you. But if you have better ideas, propose to the exco! We're waiting here!

Anyway, the exco is looking into a new way to structure the Board. Hopefully, we would make an impact before we step down. (:

okay hey donkies! I just want to thank all those who came down today for the farewell party! Really hope you people had fun, especially the sec 4s! yepp! I like to play wacko! Do yall like to play?! HAHA!

oh yeah! so how were the games?! Was the thawing of the frozen tee shirts fun?! Well, actually Amirah and I took this game from a congress which we attended recently. Thought it was pretty cool and hence decided to improvise and stuff. In fact, yall can find this game from the internet too! just google "water games" and a whole long list will come up. yup, yall must know where to source for all these games okay! so that we can use it for events next time. (: okey dokey donkies? YAYE! (:

Now that farewell is over, I guess we're going to have more stuff coming up right? Like sec 1 registration, orientation, induction, psgm... And the whole long list goes on. But don't be stressed yeah! Esp the sec2s. I'm sure yall can cope with all that. (: Oh btw, nice performance earlier on this morning. Good effort! (:

Alright, I suppose we'll call for another board meeting soon. But it won't be just a briefing and then byebye. Yup, perhaps we'll have more like an interaction session as well. Not confirmed yet, just an idea. Yup. Juts make sure yall can make it if we really organize one yeah?
